I love economics. And you've done a first-rate job of explaining the National Debt conundrum. Unfortunately, low readership suggests that excellence in economics is dramatically underappreciated in our troubled nation. There are Americans who believe that our country has descended into socialism to their detriment even as they demand that Social Security and Medicare benefits remain untouched by political elites.
First and foremost, well done, Sir! This is a message that needs to be angelically blasted on clarion trumpets far and wide. And is not.
Right now, I'm just finishing up Naomi Oreskes and Eric Conway's The Big Myth, where they take on similar myths that developed into today's business libertarianism. And even though the myth of the national debt would have fit PERFECTLY into the examples that build their narrative, in the 370 or so pages of content I have taken notes on thus far, at no point do they do as you have done here and given the Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1970 remake screeching Donald Sutherland point of shame at every utterance of the complete and total balderdash that is "fiscal conservativism."
